Barrier Safe Solutions International (BSSI) of Reno, Nevada recently acquired a broad range of patents for controlled release microbiocides and odor neutralizing products.

BSSI has formed a new company, MicroActive Corp. to develop these technologies. MicroActive Corp. is a wholly owned subsidiary of BSSI, and is committed to developing & marketing innovative antimicrobial technologies, products and solutions for healthcare, food, agricultural, medical, consumer, and industrial products & markets. MicroActive Corp. is also headquartered in Reno, Nevada.

MicroActive Corp. is developing two proprietary, controlled release technologies called Microsphère® and Microlìte® that focus on preventing and eliminating biological contamination. Both the Microsphère® and Microlìte® patented sustained release systems, are innovative technologies enabling the creation of an active Microatmosphère® environment that inhibits the growth of microorganisms and actively neutralizes undesirable odors. The active Microatmosphère® is formed by the generation of a highly effective broad spectrum antimicrobial compound that is often used for disinfecting and sterilizing materials in food and medical applications.

The unique Microatmosphère® is a controlled vapor-phase system that controls biological contamination without requiring direct surface contact. The product being protected is effectively sealed in a “vapor of freshness.” The controlled release feature allows the different forms of the Microsphère® and Microlìte® products to remain active for specific extended periods of time.
